| Visibly Evident is an exhibition of eight contemporary artists of differing ages. They all make photographs but not exclusively. Their other practices range from the purely conceptual to the painterly, to sculpture and installation. Making photographs has been a consistent part of these artists' work for several years and reflects many of the mainstream interests of contemporary photography – the real, the synthetic, the constructed and deconstructed – but in addition reveals an intriguing insight into the artists' other practices. All these artists attempt to bring a resolution to each piece by using a visual literacy which, although sometimes complex, always attempts to resolve itself through its construction and depiction rather than exhaustive interpretation. |
